Beverley D. Bryan

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Beverley D. Bryan, 81, a resident of Sedro-Woolley and member of Central Valley Assembly of God church in Burlington WA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at United General Hospital.

She was born on July 1, 1930 in Rubens, Idaho, one of 10 children of Dwight & Joveta (Donnelly) Latham.  She was raised and attended school outside of  Pomeroy in Peola and Columbia Center in Eastern WA.

On June 4, 1949 she was united in marriage to Doyle Bryan in Yakima, WA and they made their home in Yakima, Central Point and Moses Lake.  While in Moses Lake she worked for the Pronto Potato Processing Plant for several years.  In 1968 they moved to Sedro-Woolley.

In the early 1950’s Doyle and Beverley began foster parenting and were the first family to be licensed in Washington State as foster parents.  For the past 50 years they have been foster parents to over 300 children locally and abroad.  They were charter organizers and life members of the Foster Parent Association in Washington State.  Beverley was also a respite care provider for parents with handicapped children and volunteered for the Skagit Gleaners.  When time allowed she was an avid quilter and enjoyed embroidering, sewing and flower gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Doyle Bryan of Sedro-Woolley; her children, Janie Reed of Port Orchard, WA, Paul Bryan of Concrete, WA, Denney Bryan of Puyallup, WA and David Bryan, Betty Jean Bryan and Beverlee June Roberts all of Sedro-Woolley, WA; several brothers and sisters and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Beverley’s name to the National Foster Parent Assoc., 2021 E. Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55413-1769 or online at www.nfpainc.org/donate.

Graveside Services for Beverley will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2:30 PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Jim Cannon officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Aunt Bev was a person; that believed if you can help your self then she would go the extra mile to help you a long,,

In 1980 my mother passed away from cancer; bev was my 2nd mother she would always tell me that Jesus had another job in heaven

Over the years, whenever we saw Bev, she gave us such a warm greeting and we felt loved. She has left such a wonderful legacy of family and the children whose lives she touched. Our love and prayers go out to Doyle and the kids, Janie, Paul, Denney, David, Betty Jean and Beverlee June and the rest of the family.

I met Bev in the mid-70’s when I worked at SPARC. She was such a wonderful advocate for all the children she cared for. Her legacy will live on in all the families she assisted. She has earned a place in heaven for all the love she has shared throughout the years. My sympathies to her family. You will miss her but she is still watching over all of you.
