BLANCHE M. SWIHART, 81, a resident of Burlington, passed away on Tuesday June 10, 2003 at the Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon.
She was born on July 3, 1921 in Marysville, CA, the daughter of Albert & Julia Fratius Self. In 1931 the family came to Skagit County, residing in Birdsview and Rockport, finally settling in Sedro-Woolley where Blanche attended grade school at Hoogdahl.
She was united in marriage to Lynn Swihart in Mount Vernon on May 27, 1939 and they made their home in the Sedro-Woolley area.
Blanche worked as a waitress for 18 years and then as a fry cook at area restaurants for over 20 years, retiring in 1979.
She enjoyed cooking, playing the piano and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Richard Swihart and his wife Betty of Mount Vernon, Larry Swihart and his wife Linda of Scappoose, OR, Gloria Buchanan, of Sedro-Woolley, Sharon Burleson of Anacortes and Pam Boling and her husband Chris of Conway. 2 brothers, Ed Self of Fremont, CA and Albert Self, Jr. of Longview, WA. 1 sister, Goldie Smith of Scappoose, OR. 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn in 1979 and by a son-in-law, Clyde Buchanan in 1999.
Graveside services will be held on Monday June 16, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Dr. Tom Haan officiating.

    Oh Gram… A Lot has happened in the 20 years since you’ve passed. I miss you still to this day. My life would have been different if you were always there protecting me.
