Bob Reece

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

Robert (Bob) La Verne Reece, 79, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2013 surrounded by his family.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend.  Bob will be missed greatly by all those who knew him.

He was born on November 29, 1933 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the son of Leland and Helen Reece. Bob was life-long resident of Skagit County, living most of his life in Mount Vernon, Diablo and Marblemount.

Bob graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1952.  Bob and his wife of 34 years, Grace, built their first home together and moved to Mount Vernon in 1990.  Bob’s greatest joy was his family and many friends.  He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife, Grace, for many years.   He also enjoyed woodworking and spending time each week with his “coffee group” friends.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.  He worked for Darigold from 1951-1953 and again from 1956-1957, Skagit Steel from 1956-1957, Great Northern Railroad from 1957-1960, Seattle City Light in Newhalem/Diablo from 1960-1990, and Mount Vernon School District as a bus driver from 1990-1996.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Barbara LeGro of Mount Vernon and Lynda (Steve) Stout of Concrete; son, Terry Reece of Marysville; grandchildren, Brittany LeGro, Andy Stout, Alyssa (Ryan) Ringhouse, Kristen LeGro, and Caitlyn Reece.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Grace Lemon,  in October of  2012, his mother Helen Little in 2005, and father, Leland Reece in 1957.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. CJ Kuan at North Sound Kidney Physicians.  We would also like to thank Dr. Robert Stewart of Skagit Regional Clinics-Cardiology and Dr. George Gjerset of Regional Cancer Care Center in Mount Vernon.

Funeral Services will be held at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:00pm.  Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Skagit Valley Kidney Center, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98274.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of my uncle Bob’s family and friends. Always makes us feel better to celebrate the life rather than grieve the loss. Still have many fond memories of him when I was young. Remember the good times. Peace to your soul Uncle. AMEN

I guess it’s only fitting that Bob could not go on without his precious Grace! I am so sorry for your loss! I am grateful for the chance to see them both when I worked at the Kidney Center, at His Place Church and always thereafter, shopping around town! Bob was always so loving and always smiling, despite the many health setbacks! Bob, you will be missed by many! Sending God’s comfort to Barb, Lynda, Terry, Tami & Debbie and the grand-kids as well! God bless you all with peace and healing!
