Charles Patrick ‘Charlie’ Sloniker, age 56, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at his home in Clear Lake with his family at his side.
He was born on August 5, 1948 in Monett, Missouri, the son of Fred and Florence Johnson Sloniker.
Charlie grew up in Missouri, coming to the Skagit Valley in 1954 where he later graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1966, where he ran track, setting many records.
He was a resident of Clear Lake for the past 19 years and formally worked at WRP and Summit Timber Co. He was most recently employed by the Sedro-Woolley School District driving school bus. He served with the US Air Force in the mid 1960’s. Charles enjoyed fishing, raising bees, and was very active coaching girl’s softball, umpiring, and being a member of the Little League Board.
He is survived by his son, Nathan Sloniker and his wife, Tammy of Clear Lake and three daughters, Jennifer Lavorato of Mount Vernon, Leslie Sloniker of Birdsview, and Trina Sloniker of Seattle. 3 grandchildren, Donnie Fish and Michael and Jordon Stapel. His mother, Florence Sloniker of Carthage, MO and brothers and sisters; Mary Warner of Springfield, MO, Teresa Sloniker of Marysville, Louise Carbajal and her husband, Joe of Marysville, Catherine Keller and her husband, Ted of Sedro-Woolley, Julie Faleen and her husband, John of Carlton, WA, Amy Sloniker of Marysville, Frederick Sloniker and his wife, Glenda of Latah, WA, Margaret Adams and here husband, Jack of Lewiston, ID, Denis Sloniker and his wife, Lynn of Spanaway, Caroline Sloniker of Marysville, George Sloniker of Sedro-Woolley, and Rita Sloniker of Clarkston, WA. Numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Fred and four brothers, John, Joseph, James, and Sidney.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Lemley Chapel at 11:00 AM with Father Cyr of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Burien, WA officiating. Burial with Military Honors by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. Memorials are suggested to Sedro-Woolley Little League.
