Christopher Michael Tungate

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Christopher Michael Tungate, 33, a longtime Skagit County resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 26, 2008.
Chris was born on March 4, 1975 in Mount Vernon, Washington, the son of Michael & Vicki Exelby Tungate.
He was raised in Mount Vernon, attending Lincoln grade school and Mount Vernon High School.
Chris worked doing a variety of classifications in the construction industry from carpenter to welder and was an accomplished mechanic. If it didn’t run, it did when Chris was done with it; and Chris enjoyed working, when a job was done he was out there looking for the next one. He also enjoyed the ‘pay it forward’ outlook on life, he was always willing to help others with things, large or small.
He had a good sense of humor and was a great comedian, keeping friends and family always laughing. He also loved the outdoors, going 4-wheeling and camping and fishing with his family.
Chris is survived by his daughters, Taylor Nicole Tungate & Kayla Rylee Tungate of Clear Lake. His mother, Vicki Lewis of Bellingham. His father, Mike Tungate Carol of Arlington. His sister, Kendra Rhodes Mike of Sedro-Woolley, and their daughter, Chloe. Paternal grandfather, Walt Tungate of Arlington; maternal grandparents, Shirley & Luther Mullins and Warner & Virginia Exelby, all of Mount Vernon and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Iris Larson; grandmother, Shirley Tungate True; uncle Ken Exelby and cousin Kenny Exelby.
The family request memorials be made to the Tungate Children Trust Fund c/o any branch of U.S. Bank.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon with Pastor Kevin Schubkegel, and from the Christ the King Church in Bellingham, Pastor Deni Starbuck officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
