CLIFFORD F. HAMMER, 84, a former Whatcom County resident passed away on Thursday March 31, 2005 at Birchview Memory Care in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
He was born on February 14, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Frans and Signe Lindblom Hammar. He was raised and attended school in Grays Harbor, County and graduated from Aberdeen High School.
He was united in marriage to Frances Duncan in 1940 and they made their home for several years in Aberdeen, WA where he worked in the local plywood mill. During WW II Cliff served his country in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. After his return from the service he worked as an agent in the Insurance business and in 1955 the family moved to Tacoma.
In 1963 Cliff started working for the U.S. Post Office as a distribution clerk and he retired in 1983 as a supervisor examination specialist and the family made their home in Bellingham and Lynden.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Frances in Sedro-Woolley. 2 daughters, Judy Chapman of Blaine, WA and Gypsy Brokenwings of Everett. 2 sons, Bruce Hammer Ursula of Marysville and Clifford Hammer, Jr. Lilyof Portland, OR. 11 grandchildren 7 great- grandchildren. At his request there will be no funeral services. Memorials to a local Hospice organization are suggested.
Cremation arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
