Dale Richard Lucas

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

Dale R. ‘Red’ Lucas born December 22, 1938 went to be with his Lord on November 22, 2003 at the age of 64 years. After a very courageous battle with cancer, he went peacefully at home with his wife and daughter at his side.
Dale lived an extremely eventful and complete life. He was a brilliant and talented man. He was considered by all a terrific friend, a great husband, and extraordinary father. All who knew him knew what he was capable of. He was extremely intelligent, and all who knew him respected and envied his brilliance and talent. He was seen, respected, and will be remembered as a man that could do anything.
He was born to Glenn and Helen Bradley Lucas of Iola, Kansas where he was raised on a farm. He later served with the US Army and returned after his service time to start making a living as a construction worker. He became an expert heavy equipment operator in both Local #101 of Kansas City as well as Local #$302 of Seattle which allowed him to provide for his family. He met his wife Barbara on September 26, 1988 and their union and marriage was a testament to their vows and also a testament to others what a marriage should be. Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and he was a member of the Moose Lodge, Steelhead Club, and attended Central United Methodist Church. He is survived by his mother Helen Lucas of Mesa, AZ, his loving wife Barbara Dinneen-Lucas of Sedro-Woolley, his daughter Angela Mauricio of Sedro-Woolley, and his step-son Bryce and his wife Brenda Gallant of Gilbert, AZ. His grandchildren Joshua Russell of Pleasant Hill, MO, Chelsea and Kaitlynne Mauricio of Sedro-Woolley, Sarah & Sorina King and Garrett Gallant all of Gilbert, AZ and a great grandchild Gavin Russell of Pleasant Hill, MO. Brothers Larry and his wife Carol Lucas and their children, Wallace and his wife Elaine Lucas and their children, Keith and his wife Diane Lucas and a sister Sherri Lucas Schimdt and her husband Bill and their children. In addition, he is survived by his step-children from a previous marriage; Roger Downing and his wife and children, Donna Landes, Elizabeth Downing Oden and her husband and children, Joseph Downing, Christopher Downing and wife, and Stephen Downing and his wife and children all of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Lucas.
Dale had countless friends that he acquired since moving to Washington in 1990 as well as many friends in Missouri. He will be missed and remembered often by all.
A Celebration of Dale’s Life will be held Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 1:00PM at the Central United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating with a reception to follow the services at the church. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice or Central United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Drs. Dietrich & Smith Clinic and North Puget Oncology for all those who helped in Dale’s care. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
