Danny Lee Stahlecker

Friday, July 8th, 2022

Danny Lee Stahlecker of Diablo, Washington, passed away at home on Friday July 8, 2022.  Danny was born on May 15, 1949 (the oldest of three siblings) to Richard and Darlene Stahlecker in Gregory, South Dakota.

Danny moved with this family to Yakima, Washington at a young age, where he grew up and graduated from West Valley High.  He was always very patriotic and proud.  He joined the Marine Corp in 1967 prior to high school commencement ceremony, choosing instead to serve his country.  He was deployed shortly after joining the Marines to Vietnam where he courageously served.  After honorable discharge from the Marines, he resided in the Skagit Valley where he embarked on a lifelong career as a mechanic.  During his career he owned a service station, was employed as a mechanic by Washington State DOT, and for a short time, repaired marine engines in Alaska.  Of course, he always found time to help friends and family.

Danny married Cynthia Morton on November 11, 1988.  Cindy and Danny joined their families and resided in Skagit County.  Upon his retirement in 2002, he moved with his wife Cynthia to Diablo, Washington.  He loved to show off the stunning beauty of the upper Skagit Valley to visitors and spent many happy days “touring” around with his Father-in-Law, Leroy.  Danny also loved to collect coins often perusing the internet for that “one in a million” deal.  Danny was a man of principle and integrity, he had a sense of humor that grew on you, and he loved his family and of course his dogs, Daze and Leonities.

Danny is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Diablo; three sons, Chad (Jennifer) of Mount Vernon, William (Sierra) of Yakima, and Mark of Burlington; grandchildren, Rowan, Arielle, Landon, Jackson and Cooper; sister, Debbie Stahlecker and brother, Rick Stahlecker both of Yakima, WA.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Dick” and Darlene (Lowery) Stahlecker.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please share your memories of Danny and sign the online guest register.

My condolences to Danny’s family. I remember the many kindnesses shown my family at my son Mark’s death. Mark had many friends, but Danny was no doubt his most cherished and best friend. Perhaps they’re fishing together now! I wish you all peace and love.

Sorry to hear of Danny’s passing. We had many great times together racing his Dodge Swinger with anyone in the Valley who thought they could beat him. Many hours spent at the carwash/service station near the courthouse. Dany was a good friend, and will be missed.
