Darla Allen

Thursday, September 14th, 2023

Darla Jean Allen, 64, of Burlington, WA, passed away on September 14, 2023 in Everett, WA.  She was an amazing mother, sister, spouse, grandmother, and friend. Darla was the proud mother of 3 children, who she would say were her greatest accomplishments in life. She also earned a business degree from Skagit Valley College and managed the produce department at Safeway for many years.

Darla loved her kids and her grandchildren more than anything and when she wasn’t with them, she was in her garden doing what she did best – nurturing life. She loved the ocean and being near it and would frequently be found at the beach, soaking up the sun. You also couldn’t find a bigger lover of animals if you tried, especially horses. In fact, she’s probably riding her old horse Patchy right now in heaven.

She had an infectiously fun personality, and you couldn’t help but be at ease around her. She was quick to laugh and was one of the most selfless and genuinely kind people you could ever meet. She would be the first person to eagerly volunteer to help if you needed it. She will be missed terribly and we’re all looking forward to the day when we are reunited in heaven.

Darla is survived by her children, Randy (Irine) Chritton, Misty (Michael) Crider, Matthew (Leah) Thomas; grandchildren, Kaelia, Ethan, Maggie, Ronan, Dreysen, Logen, and Camren; sisters, Deanna (KC) McIntyre, Denise Anderson, and Doreen (Sandy) Cobbin; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Josephine Allen; father, Darrel Wayne Allen.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Jim Cannon officiating. Share your memories of Darla and sign the online guest register.

First of all my deepest sympathies and condolences to Darla Allen’s Family and Friends . Calling all Angels to comfort each and everyone of you .
    My chosen sister Darla,
I’m so glad I got to see you and your Sisters Deanna , Doreen. Denise was taking care of your Mom . That was a few years ago and had been 40 years ! We all went on different paths leaving Clear Lake . So many memories I’ll share only a few , hard to do we had so many .
The days at school we couldn’t wait to get home and hop on our horses in the rain , snow , going swimming horseback in the summers , it didn’t matter . We were free ! Seeing your beautiful blond hair in the wind. Not a care in the world . We would race our horses , laughing and free spirits .
Last day day school we always rode to Sedro Woolley our little group of friends Clear Lakers . We rode in grand entry at Logger Rodeo . You rode Patchy and and I rode my Shawnee.
Neither of us had we a horse trailer, and it didn’t matter we loved to ride .
Kris Oldfield was always on her horse, and we all met up almost everyday to do what we’d loved most our horses and each other .
I can remember going to your Grandmas house next door . She always had a treat for you and your friends .
I remember you so small and fragile recovering from surgery , and through it all you were smiling . You were a warrior as a child and a adult . The beautiful loving smile I will never forget .
The trip we took to Spokane ! We wanted to see the worlds fair ! We should of ask our folks first ! Yes we got into trouble a few times, but that was life it was never boring !
I traveled to Pamona CA to see you . By myself ! I missed you so much after you left . We were so young and experiencing life . Found out fast about the big world .
You always were a rare diamond , only one like you , and knowing you life was so much better and fun .
The 40 + years we hadn’t seen each other when I seen you we picked up right where we left off !
You were so loving and nurturing to everyone , and everything .
Darla you will be missed by me , your Sisters Denise , Deanna , Doreen . Your children I never got the pleasure of meeting , and your Grandchildren , so so many friends in your lifetime that loved you very much . You were a beautiful loving treasure . I could write a book which I have but just a small chapter , there was half a lifetime in Clear Lake we were always part the Clear Lakers! Yee haw ! I can only imagine how free you are riding your horse , with your Mom and Dad and Grandmas , friends and relatives gone too soon .
Until I see you again every horse I see I’ll think of you lovingly . Your Sister / Friend always and forever

Darla will be missed by so many, she was my best friend we did everything together our younger years were the best I have never laughed as or cried so much when we did dumb stuff or when we rode our horses as free as the wind.. racing in the fields , she always smiled and always looking out for others, once at the boat launch she saved a little girl from drowning and I helped her mom out of shock, Darla always put people ahead of herself.. I am so happy I got to be her friend the memories will forever make me happy, my thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Darla was and will always be a dear member of our family. There are far to many memories to choose just one. She gave this world 3 precious gifts, Randy, Misty and Matthew through them she will live on forever. Her biggest joy was her Children and Grand Children and when she wasn’t loving on them she was loving nature. We will see you again sweet Sister. you will forever be loved.

Darla was the best!!! Loved watching her plant and grow flowers. I am so happy that I saw Darla a couple of months ago, and we talked about our friendship. I am so happy she knew how much I loved her, and that we had that time! On behalf of the Class of 1977 and myself….Darla you will be missed. This picture also shows how beautiful she is.
Hugs and love to her family.

Dear Darla’s family: I’m sorry to hear about Darla’s passing, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In school she always had a smile on her face and made you feel like you were part of her family. Darla you went from being a Earth Angel to a Heavenly Angel. Hug my baby sister Teresa for me. God bless..
