Thursday, December 11th, 2008

David D. Mumford, 25, a lifelong Skagit Valley resident, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Dave was born on December 4, 1983 in Sedro-Woolley.
He was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 2002. He then attended Skagit Valley College where he earned an Associate Degree.
Dave worked for the city of Mount Vernon Parks & Recreation Department for several years and also for the City of Sedro-Woolley for a couple of years. He most recently had been working as a shop foreman for Hertz Equipment Rentals, and was currently employed by Birch Equipment Rentals.
For the past five years he had worked at McIntyre Hall as a stage hand, rigger, set carpenter, and a Fly Captain. Doing all aspects of ‘the behind the scenes’ duties to ensure that performances ran smoothly. Dave was involved with nearly every major production since the theater opened in 2003. He even dabbled in some acting. Performing roles in ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’, ‘Lil’ Abner’, and ‘Oklahoma’. Dave was always ready with a smile, a witty quip, and a helping hand. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. See you opening night Dave.
Dave is survived by his parents, Debbie & Rick Mumford of Sedro-Woolley. His father, Doug Greer of Kirkland. Three siblings, Matt Mumford and his fiancé, Tonya Scott and Holly Mumford of Sedro-Woolley and Dan Peck and his wife, Trish of Bothell. Maternal grandparents, Darold & Shirley Homan of Sedro-Woolley and Sharon Greer of Orcas Island. Three nieces, one nephew and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim & Karene Mumford and Harry Greer.
A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at McIntyre Hall, 2405 E. College Way in Mount Vernon for our son, brother, and friend. Private family interment will be at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
