Monday, January 29th, 2024

David Roger Weaver, 100 years old, of Sedro-Woolley passed on peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 29, 2024, at his home at Country Meadow Village. He was born May 5, 1923, in Leetsdale, PA.

While at Leetsdale Valley High School, David was a high hurdles star. One of his records held up for 22 years. David was stationed in Cairo, Egypt in WWII and worked on the C-46 plane which carried cargo over the Himalayas to Burma, China and India.
David worked closely with the military and with NASA, where he was an aircraft, missiles and space systems specialist.

David and Vera Mae were married for 72 years and had three wonderful sons, David (Alison), Roger (Diane Celeste) and Bruce Weaver. They were devout Christians and helped start several Presbyterian and Methodist Churches in the Midwest. They loved to dance and square dance while living in multiple parts of the country. David was an avid fisherman and loved to play golf. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed.

His final resting place will be alongside Vera Mae at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

There will be a Memorial Service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 6 at 2 PM, Pastor Darrell Schoen presiding.

i have fond memories of Dave when he visited Leann and me during his frequent visits to Wichita for his work in the 1960s and 1970s. A great guy whose visits we greatly enjoyed.

What an amazing father, husband and grandfather Dave Weaver was. He set the bar high for those of us who knew him. I remember telling Dave he was my “idol” for retiring at the age of 49 or 50. I was so jealous but I know he earned that retirement through hard work and dedication. He built his dream home at the Lake of the Ozark and was kind enough to let us visit from time to time and what great host and hostess he and his wife were.
You will be missed but not forgotten. Prayers for you and your family!

What an amazingly long life Mr. Weaver had! His influence and legacy have certainly been passed on to his children, grandchildren and family members. God definitely blessed David and Vera Mae with quality lives here on earth, and now he has gained everlasting life in heaven with Jesus. ❤️

What a grand man this man was and remains with me. From high school days with Bruce to weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks. Such a fair and gentle man. Never talked down to us. Always an ally and friend. Such a great example he always set. God Bless.

Grandpa Weaver was truly one of the most patient and giving persons I have ever known. He was always a calming voice of reason and willing to lend a hand in any situation. His graciousnous and paitents were surpassed only by his love for his family, and his goodness lives on through all of us. He will be missed by all that shared his life, and I will carry the leasons he shared with me always.

    Bruce,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We remember your dad as a very kind and thoughtful man. He and your mom were gracious hosts when we stayed at their home on our Ozark trips. It was always a pleasure visiting with them. And what a dancer he was at Matt’s wedding! He will be missed by many.

I remember Dave as being a very kind gentle man, from visiting numerous times with him and Vera May at Bruce and Janet’s house and joining us for a visit at Mark Twain Lake while camping. My last fondest memory of him was watching him dance with Kassey at her and Matt’s wedding a few years ago, he was quite the dancer.

Grandpa Weaver was the kindest soul I have ever known. He was patient and quiet but loved big! He was a teacher, a listener, and a truly amazing man. I have some of the fondest memories visiting him and Grandma Vera Mae at the Lake of the Ozarks. He taught life lessons just by being himself and he made the world a better place. A light dims at our loss but Grandma just got her hero back. I hope they are dancing right now. Thank you for a beautiful life you shared with us!
