Dennis Albert ‘Denny’ Lisherness, beloved husband, father, and brother and a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley at the age of 62 years. Denny was born November 15, 1941 in Tacoma, WA the son of Albert and Kathleen Beeman Lisherness. Denny was a descendent of Mark Antoine LaPierre Lajeunesse who came from France to fight in the Revolutionary War; hence the name Lisherness. His mother started the tradition of naming her children starting with the letter D. Denny and his brother Doug stayed with that tradition naming 11
children in all between the two brothers.
Denny grew up and attended schools in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1960. He lettered in football, basketball, and track for four years in high school and had many prospective scholarships waiting for him when he graduated. One of his desires was to go to Argentina and become a goucho cowboy because he liked the name. For many years, he worked at Skagit Steel and Bendix Corporation and in 1991 he began working for the City of Sedro-Woolley in the Park Department retiring last year. Denny was very committed to his duties at Riverfront Park where he welcomed everyone. Denny’s passions were his family, friends, and working at the park. He also enjoyed gardening, carpentry, puttering around fixing things, and spending time at his daughter’s pond and waterfall in her yard. He was married to Patricia Beachan on September 25, 1987 in Arlington, WA. He is survived by his wife Patricia Lisherness of Sedro-Woolley. Five daughters: Denessa Lisherness of Sedro-Woolley, Denise Anthony of Chitna, AK, Debora and her husband Kevin Sullivan of Sedro-Woolley, Dina and her husband Chris Lofgren of Anacortes, and Kiersten White of Anacortes.. A brother Douglas and his wife Diane Lisherness of Lake Quinault, WA. 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a special cousin Patrick Lisherness of Lake Tyee, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
