DONNA MAE QUEEN, 52, a lifelong Skagit Valley resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Donna was born on March 1, 1950 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the daughter of Leland & Elizabeth Davis Cabe. She was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley. She was united in marriage to Denny Queen in Hamilton, WA on October 7, 1967 and they made their home in Lyman. Donna worked as a secretary for the Sedro-Woolley School District for 25 years, with 22 years of that at the Lyman Elementary School. She retired in June of 2002.
In her leisure time Donna liked to go hiking and camping with her family, but was especially fond of, and won money at, playing bingo and the slot machines.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Denny, at the family home in Lyman. 2 sons, Steve Queen and his partner Brent Coble of Lyman, and Ron Queen and his wife Danielle, and their children, Michelle and Royce of Birdsview. Royce was born on October 30, 2002. 2 sisters, Pat Pitman and her husband Harold and Jeanne Halverson and her husband Leonard, all of Sedro-Woolley. 1 brother, Danny Cabe and his wife Joan of Sedro-Woolley. A former sister-in-law, Mildred Hodgin of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland & Elizabeth Cabe, 2 infant sisters and her parents-in-law, Spurgeon & Edna Queen.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Lyman Elementary School or the Seattle Cancer Treatment & Wellness Center, 122 ‘ 16th Avenue East, Seattle, WA 98112.
Funeral services will be held Monday November 4, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Ron Schenk of the Lyman Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Lyman City Cemetery, followed by a fellowship gathering at the Lyman Town Hall.
