Doyle H. Frisbee, 82, of Sedro-Woolley, WA passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley. Doyle was born March 6, 1920 in Moe, Hot Springs North Carolina, the oldest of eleven children of Thomas and Maggie Justice Frisbee. He attended school in North Carolina until joining the C.C.C., coming to Washington in 1939 to work in the logging industry. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942, serving in the South Pacific until returning to Sedro-Woolley after WWII. In 1946, Doyle began dairy farming, logging, and working in construction while residing on his farm east of Sedro-Woolley until present. Doyle enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, hunting, and camping and was very proud of the Skagit Valley, his Carolina heritage, family, and country.
Doyle was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Vera T. Sloan in 1994. His parents Maggie and Thomas Frisbee, 2 sisters Dorothy Frisbee and Lois Holland, and 5 brothers Jessie, Emmett, Henry, Thomas, and Clearman Frisbee.
He is survived by his daughter, Estella Ann Fox and her husband Jim, and a son Gerald Jerry Frisbee and his wife Karen, all of Sedro-Woolley. 1 brother, Floyd Frisbee and his wife Ester Lee of Waynesville, NC. 2 sisters, Cecilia Farmer and her husband Ray of Gastonia, NC and Etrula Mae Long and her husband Rudy of Old Fort, NC. 3 sisters-in-law, Myrtle Frisbee of Sedro-Woolley, Lillie Frisbee of Marion, NC, and Sue Frisbee of Waynesville, NC.
6 grandchildren, Kerry, Lori, Marc, Ron, Shawn, and Celeste and 8 great-grandchildren Alicia, Andrew, Rachel, Dillon, Ashton, Megan, Josh and Jerod. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 23, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Chaplain Wayne Stiles of the Army National Guard officiating. Burial with military honors by George Baldridge Post 43 American Legion will follow at the Lyman Cemetery, Lyman, WA. Memorials are suggested to the Town of Lyman Cemetery Fund or the Sedro-Woolley American Legion.
