Elizabeth Burch

Tuesday, May 7th, 2024

Emma Elizabeth “Liz” Burch, 84 of Sedro-Woolley, Washington slipped into the arms of our heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.  She was surrounded by much of the family as she took her last breath.  She was born July 25, 1939 in White County, Georgia to Lee and Rinda Ferguson.  Liz married Howard “Paul” Burch on June 16, 1956, and the very next day, they packed their things and drove to Washington.  They eventually settled in Sedro-Woolley in 1966.  She worked many years as a CNA at Northern State Hospital and eventually transitioned to Portal until she retired in 1999.

“Bug” as she was affectionately known by people who were close to her, loved to create.  She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, quilting, and teaching others in her ceramics shop.  She had a love for fishing with her husband, cooking and baking southern food and collecting all sorts of knick knacks and trinkets.  She also often tried her luck with scratch off tickets and slots at the Casino from time to time.  She will be remembered for her quick wit, strong will and sharp tongue, but above all, for the deep adoration she had for her family.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Jeanne) Burch of Sedro-Woolley, Janice Burch of Sedro-Woolley, Barbra (Steve) Andersen of Lubbock, Texas and Teresa Burch of Sedro-Woolley.  She was “Granny” to 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters, Runette Ansley, Lenell Free and Muarl Davis of Georgia along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Howard Paul Burch; parents, Lee and Rinda; brothers, Milliard and Carrol; she is reunited with them all in eternal peace.

A Funeral Service will be held at11:00, Monday, May 13, 2024 at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, followed by a gathering at Inspire Church, Burlington 12:30-3:00pm.
