    Florence Jean Klinger, 69, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, passed away at her home on Monday, July 15, 2013.

    She was born in Seattle on December 6, 1943 to Louis “Hap” and Alberta Voltin.  After growing up in the Bremerton area, she married, had two children, and lived in California and Texas.  She moved back to Washington in 1978 with her two children, settling in Sedro-Woolley.  In 1987 she was united in marriage to Dennis Klinger.

    Florence served as a foster mother in Hooks, Texas where she was honored as the Foster Mother of the Year.  She worked at the Vehicle Licensing office at Al’s Auto in Mount Vernon and at the Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce.  After retiring, she volunteered delivering meals to seniors for Meals on Wheels.  She also used her needlework skills to make caps for cancer patients and lap robes for seniors.

    In her free time, Florence enjoyed participating in bowling leagues, watching Mariners baseball and needlework.  She loved to travel and went to Arizona for spring training several times.  She also visited her children in Arkansas and Iowa.

     She is survived by her husband, Dennis Klinger; her son, Richard Ellis (Amber), her daughter, Robin Endsley; her grandchildren, Adam and Abigail Ellis, Haden, Carlis and Coltin Endsley and Joshua and Raechelle Klinger; Step-sons Dean Klinger (Erin), Dale Klinger (Kirsty) and step-daughter, Tammy Canniff; her sisters, Rosemary Hansen, Ramona Deighton (John), and Carol Lunsford; her sister-in-law, Ann Voltin and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Beulah Voltin; grand-daughter, Lacey Klinger and her brother, William Voltin.

     The family requests that donations be made to Skagit County Meals on Wheels, 309 S. Third Street, Mount Vernon, WA  98283 or the American Cancer Society.

    The Rosary will be recited at Lemley Chapel on Thursday, July 18th at 7:00 PM.   A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Martin Bourke, Celebrant.  A reception will follow at the church.  Interment will be at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.  Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

    Denny, Richard, Robin and Family,

    Was sorry to hear of Florence’s passing. I was thinking of the many memories when I was the neighbor. I especially remember the summer we rode our bikes almost every day with the adventures of dodging dogs. However, on one trip, we found a pup, named Shadow.

    My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take Care.

    Gloria

    Denny, Richard, Robin and families. I knew that Florence was nearing the end but it still hard to learn of her death. We had been friends since the 7th grade. She and I were in each homes practically daily until we graduated from high school. My family regarded her almost as another daughter. We will all miss her. I am so glad that Mom, Linda and I were able to visit she and Denny in their new home and that she and I had such a nice long telephone visit. Our thoughts are with your family this week. Thank you so much for having Ramona call me.

    Dennis;

    So sorry to hear the news. I had just read the sun and began this note when Bobby called. She evidently kept all this to herself…………., I didn’t have a clue. Wish I could come up on Thursday or Friday but there are Dr appointments and I won’t be able to make it. I will send the message to all her high school classmates.
