Friday, February 28th, 2014

Gertrude “Trudy” Meins, 91, a longtime Sedro-Woolley area resident, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Joshua’s House Adult Family Home in Sedro-Woolley.
Trudy was born on July 15, 1922 in Morrow, Missouri, the daughter of Martin & Effie (Saner) Butler.
She was raised and attended school in Iowa, until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1936, where she attended and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1940. She then attended beauty school in Bellingham.
On September 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Norman Meins in Sedro-Woolley and together they made their home in the Samish area north of Sedro-Woolley for 60 years.
Together Norm and Trudy worked on their family farm and Trudy also worked as a beautician out of her home, and would even go to some of her “special client’s” home to style their hair. She was a beautician for many many years.
Trudy is survived by her brother, Martin Butler of Marysville; a half-sister, Stella Tosel of Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman in 2010 and several half-brothers and sisters.
At Trudy’s request there will be no public services. Private entombment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. Memorials are suggested to the Samish Grange or a charity of your choice.

Guestbook

  • Eileen Hart King

I remember growing up just a stones throw away from Gerti and Norm. Tracey, Dan and I had so much fun visiting them. When we were little girls Tracey and I would walk down to see Gerti, drink lemonade and eat cookies. Dan would talk “man” stuff with Norm. Mom always knew where to find us. Gerti was so funny, loving and kind to us as little kids, we were 6, 11 and 12 when we moved to live on Upper Samish Road until we graduated. When we came home we would pay visits to see our friends and they got to see our children grow up even after mom and dad moved into town. Some of our best memories will always include “Mrs. Meins” as we called her. What a lovely woman. Rest in peace you are now home with Mr. Meins and the Lord. Your loving neighbor kids, Eileen, Tracey and Dan Hart.
