Monday, October 28th, 2013

Harlen “Wayne” Rude, age 79, of Sedro-Woolley, Washington went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 28, 2013.  Wayne was born in Mount Vernon, Washington to Harlan and Margaret (Becker) Rude.  He grew up in the Puget Sound surrounded by his 9 brothers and sisters.  He graduated from Arlington High School and then attended one year the Northwest Nazarene College in Idaho.  There he met and later married Joyce Evans.  Wayne and Joyce had three children:  Robert, Barbara and Kevin.  Wayne worked his entire career as a lab tech for Shell Oil in Anacortes.

After Joyce died in 1995, Wayne joined a grief group where he met his current wife, Kathleen and they were married in 1996.

Wayne loved to travel and camp, especially at Fort Steven State Park near Astoria, Oregon.  His greatest love of life was building furniture in his workshop. Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathleen Rude of Sedro-Woolley; his mother, Margaret Becker of Mount Vernon, son Robert (Jane) Rude of Bellingham; daughter, Barbara Rude of Twin Falls, ID; and son, Kevin (Kari) Rude of Bellingham; his stepchildren, Melissa (Wade) Tonkin of Orange Park, Florida and Todd (Irine) Lamble of Sedro-Woolley; 13 grandchildren and 3 ½ great-grandchildren.

Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce, his father, Harlan and one grandchild, Meadow.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor Monday, November 11, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the North Cascade Fellowship Church, 118 N. Ball Street, Sedro-Woolley, WA.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel.
