Harold was a good friend to me for all the years we grew up together in Hamilton. We spent a lot of time fishing together and just palling around in those days. Another of Harold’s and my friends, Donald Wiggans saved my life when I was around 9 years old and almost drowned in the Skagit River. Don dove in and brought me out safely to the shore. I have always known that I owe Donny my life.
Harold was always very honest too, just like his Mom and Dad, and he was a devoted friend.
I will never forget all the people who helped shape my life in that little town, and Harold was one of the key people I always remember. God bless and keep you my friend.

  • Judy Bell

I am the daughter of Ralph and Jo Ann Bell. We lived in Hamilton until 1970. We moved to Franlin, North Carolina. We never forgot our friends and family that we left in Skagit Valley. May God Bless.

  • Ray Gillis McConnell

I am Harold’s first cousin but have had no contact with him since we were early teens. They left NC before I really got to know him. I can vouch for the fact that he was a very humble, kind and giving person.

Like him and his family I left my beautiful mountains of NC for a military career and have only been for visits with my family in the Old Settlement.

I regret never knowing Harold Gene as we matured.

I hope Aunt Azalee will remember me and all the children of her sister Ila Hoxit McConnell

Am so sorry to hear about Harolds passing. He and his mother were our neighbors for the last 8 years and always loved when he stopped in to bring different things from chocolate cake to fishing poles for the boys. I wanted so bad to go visit him when i heard that he went into the nursing home but never made it because of my own health problems. He was a loving man and he’ll be greatly missed Rest in Peace Harold

I met Beau as I have always called him not long after we moved here from north carolina. He became best buds with my brother Don Wiggins. I guess he was at our house as much as he was his own. As we all got older and went different ways we kinda lost contact at times but always stayed in touch. He was such a devoted son to his mom asalee. If he was gone from home very long, he always said ( I gotta go check on ma) He loved gardening and sharing, especially tarheel beans. RIP BEAU WE WILL MISS YOU Dorothy Donnie Latting

Was soooo sad to read that harold had passed away. I met him lots of years ago up in concrete and then later got to know him and his mother when they would come in to different restaurants that I worked in , always bringing veges from his garden and always having a nice word to say about everything. I
only wish I would have known how sick he was and had made it over to see them both at the nursing home. He was a good man and will be missed by all who knew him. RIP Harold!!!
