Henry Harold Hanel passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2003 in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 97 years. He was born March 9, 1905 in Angora, Nebraska the son of Frank and Elizabeth Heattinger Hanel. Henry was a resident of Sedro-Woolley since June of last year coming here from Orting, WA where he had been a longtime resident. He formally resided in Bayard, Nebraska working as a fireman on the railroad until coming to Orting in 1946 where he worked as a painter on bridge construction projects. He was married to Ileene Tague in Atkinson, NE in 1930 and she preceded him in death in April of 1984. Henry enjoyed playing cards, selling and buying real estate, and being a ‘horse trader’ who trusted everybody. He loved animals and especially his dog ‘Teddy’, but he was best known for his great sense of humor and great wit. Henry is survived by his two daughters Phyllis and her husband John Norbeck of LaConner, WA and Patti and her husband Bob Zelepuza of Orting, WA. Three Sons Robert Hanel of Orting, WA, David Hanel of Kansas, and Dick and his wife Bonnie Hanel of Sumner, WA. Twelve grandchildren Jef St. DeLore, Jennifer Hodgins, Teri Zelepuza, Mike Zelepuza, Judy Williams, Jerry McAbee, Janis Chaebo, Candy Hanel, Shawn Hanel, Tricia Hanel, Dennis Hanel, and J.R. Hanel. Thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara, a son Harold, two grandchildren Cheree’ and Jamie, five brothers Frank, Alfred, Vic, George, and Jessie, and a sister Helena.<br>Graveside Inurnment Services will be Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 1:00PM at the Orting Cemetery in Orting, WA. A reception and open house will follow the services at the home of Patti and Bob Zelepuza. Arrangements and Cremation under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
