Howard “Paul” Burch

Friday, January 12th, 2024

Howard “Paul” Burch of Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024.  Paul was born on November 3, 1937, to Woodrow and Hazel Burch in Franklin, North Carolina.  He was married to Elizabeth (Ferguson) Burch.  They married on June 16, 1956.  Paul had a few different positions and worked many years for National Frozen Foods Cannery in Burlington, WA.

Paul was known for his witty sense of humor, storytelling, and most importantly his unconditional love for all of his family.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, road trips and watching his favorite team the Atlanta Braves.  He also enjoyed researching his genealogy, woodworking, painting, riding his John Deere and spending time working in his yard.

Some of Paul’s favorite sayings where “We’ll just see what happens” (a quote from one of his great granddaughters).  Or “Let’s get ur done”!  Lately it was “Good morning, Sunshine” to  Elizabeth his wife when she got up in the morning.  He will always be remembered for his love of history and telling so many detailed stories of his past just like they happened yesterday.

Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Burch of Sedro-Woolley; son, Steve (Jeanne) Burch of Sedro-Woolley; daughters, Janice Burch of Sedro-Woolley, Barbara (Steve) Andersen of Lubbock, TX and Teresa Burch of Sedro-Woolley; 10 grandkids and 22 great grandkids; two sisters, Doris (Clarence) Lewallen of Baldwin, GA and Sue Wilson of Chehalis, WA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Hazel (Beckman) Burch.

Visitation will be available 9:00 AM – 5:00PM, Tuesday January 23, 2024 at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday January 24, 2024 at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.  His final resting place will be at Greenhills Cemetery, Burlington.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.  Please share your memories of Paul and sign the online guest register.

I worked at National for 25 years. Paul was the one to ask if you had a problem/questions. When I finally made it to the “Repack ” room, which was Paul’s domain, he made every day fun. Didn’t mad much, but if he went in the mechanics room and slammed the door we left him alone for awhile. You are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏. Thank you for sharing him with us.

My dear cousin, Paul, was as kind and gentle a man as I have known. He had a wonderful memory and I always loved visiting with him even from far away. Many many years ago, a friend of mine and I were invited to go with him to a place (maybe Le Conner) which was a beautiful town where we had lunch and I have very good memories of that day.
