James Byrd Jr. passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 at his home near Concrete, WA at the age of 63 years. <br>He was born August 16, 1943 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, the son of Issac and Maudie Lowery Byrd. <br>James was a resident of the Concrete area for the past 8 years, formally residing in Forks, WA and Montana. He was married to Karen E. Lanphere in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho in 1989 and he worked as a logger.<br>He is survived by his wife, Karen Byrd of Concrete. His mother Maudie Byrd, 2 brothers, Seth Byrd and his wife Jill and Sam Byrd and a sister, Margaret Buchanan and her husband, Randall all of Spruce Pine, NC. An aunt, Mary Murg and a cousin, Ron Byrd, and his wife Sonia all of Spruce Pine, NC. His mother-in-law, Nancy Lanphere of Hamilton, 2 brothers-in-law, Wayne Lanphere and his wife, Carole of Yorba Linda, CA and Roger Lanphere of Birdsview and a sister-in-law, Lori Dennis and her husband, Jess of Mount Vernon. <br>A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the American Legion Hall in Sedro-Woolley.<br>Arrangements and cremation under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Karen to aid in funeral expenses or a charity of your choice. <br>
