Jane Margaret Nelson Van Wieringen, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2022 in Sedro Woolley, WA after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 13, 1948 in Burlington, WA, the daughter to Archie and Josephine (Conner) Nelson.
Janie grew up in Redmond, WA on York Farm. She attended Holy Names Academy in Seattle and was a member of the first class to graduate from Redmond High School in 1966.
She went on to attend Western Washington University, graduating in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in Education.
She met the love of her life on a blind date. They were married on July 10, 1970 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington.
Janie and Dave owned and operated Morrison Lumber in Edison from 1975 until 1995. She went on to be a bookkeeper and office manager before Alzheimer’s forced her to retire.
Janie enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister, her faith was very important to her. She loved to read, watch football, and made the best chocolate chip cookies. She loved her family more than anything. Her sweet nature made her loved by everyone she knew.
Jane is survived by her husband, David Van Wieringen; son, Randy Van Wieringen (Lynn); daughter, Katie Curtis; six grandchildren, Kayla, Karli, Justin, Bailey, Hailey, Ellie Kate; brothers, Eric Nelson and Todd Nelson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded by her parents, Archie and Jo Nelson; brothers, Randy Nelson, and Greg Nelson.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Father Jim Dalton celebrating; reception immediately following, she will be laid to rest at the Bow Cemetery. Share your memories of Janie and sign the online guest register.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Birchview Memory Care Center for taking such good care of her the last 4 years.
