Joey Rogers Catway

Joey Rogers Catway

Thursday, November 17th, 2022

Joey Rogers Catway was called home unexpectedly on the morning of November 17, 2022 at 49 years old.  Joe was born April 20, 1973 in Sedro-Woolley and grew up in Skagit Valley.  After graduating, he worked in Alaska, returned to Washington working for his dad’s logging company, then would end his working years as an Over The Road truck driver for Brown Line LLC and Werner Enterprises.

Joey was very smart and talented.  He was most passionate about art and music, and could always be found drawing, playing his guitar, learning new songs, enjoying a video game, or a good movie.  Singing, or working with wood or leather with his dog, Biddy close by.  Joe spent many summers camping and swimming with friends and family at Baker Lake, Finney Creek, and Pilchuck.

Joey leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Bryce Catway and Nicholas Edson; mother, and stepdad, Lynnette and Randy Wood; dad, Michael Hankins; brother, James Catway; sisters, Melissa (Danny)Hendrickson, Candice Hankins, Nicole Hansen, and many (but very close) aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Rogers Catway; grandparents, Mary and Victor Catway, and Luella and Eldon Johnson.

Joey loved his family and friends and spoke of them very often.  He never missed a holiday if he could help it and always thought of friends as family as well.  Joey was everyone’s big Teddy Bear.  If he had a car, you had a ride, if he had food, you also had a meal.  When you were around him, you knew you were safe, and if you weren’t laughing you were singing!  One of his favorite things to say was, “There’s the right way, the wrong way, and the Catway.”  The chuckle that followed that sentence was guaranteed to make anyone crack a smile.

The family asks for friends to join together at his service to be held at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00pm followed by a remembrance of life at Bonnie Jo’s Restaurant, 818 Metcalf St., Sedro-Woolley, WA  98284 to share memories, thoughts, and prayers of our beloved son, brother, dad, nephew, uncle, and friend.  If anyone wishes to make any donations at this time, the family would appreciate donations in his honor at your local food bank.  Please share your memories of Joey and sign the guest register.
