June Patricia Kustus, 89 a longtime Skagit Valley resident, passed away at her home in Sedro-Woolley, WA on December 6, 2023.   She was born on January 16, 1934 in West Newton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Felix and Margaret (Laurik) Cazen.  She was raised and attended school in West Newton.

On May 16, 1950 she was united in marriage to Donald Kustus, Sr., in West Newton, Pennsylvania and they made their home there until moving to Newark, NJ in 1951, then lived briefly in Omaha, NE until settling in Seattle in 1954.  It was there that June was a devoted wife to Don and mother to her five children and where she was active with her children in their school activities.

In May of 1989 Don and June moved to Concrete and Don unfortunately passed away in August.  June remained in Concrete and worked as a clerk at the Baker Lake Shell for seven years and then as a clerk at the Hamilton Liquor Store.  In 2000 she moved to Sedro-Woolley.

June enjoyed reading and crocheting and was an active vendor at the Concrete Market for many years selling crocheted items and baked goods.

She is survived by her children, Lora Wernax and husband Michael, Alexine Cook and husband Steven, Don Kustus, Jr. and wife Christy and his stepson Ryan, Rose Brown and husband David and Celeste Ricketts and husband Clifford; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Per June’s wishes there will be no service.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.   Share memories of June and sign the online guest register.
