    Dear Lois, Robert, and all,

How sad it is to mark Keith’s passing. It was always such fun to run into him and pass the time of day. He’s up there fishin’, I just know!

Know you are in my heart,

Another longtime Birdsview resident has passed. And with him go many memories of life when it was so safe and so comfortable. Bob & Sherrie you had a wonderful father who was there when ever he was needed. May the memories you have of your life growing up stay with you forever. May you remember and smile of the good times. You couldn’t have chosen a better photo to show the love of life your father had.

The greatest man ive ever known. So much of him went into who i am today. He always had time to take me fishing even as a very little girl. Always was ready for riding bikes and happy to spend time as an adoring grandfather. I am grateful everyday for my wonderful Papa.

I worked with Keith at Scott Paper. I enjoyed all the back country tales and places he had been in our part of the world. He was a friend and I would occasionally see him in the years since we worked togeher but not enough. If we dont take advantage of the time we do have and see those who we enjoy being around then time will finally end alll of our plans. I am sorry I didnt check on him more often these past years. I can still hear his laugh and see his smile and I especially remember passing him on the highway in his car and how he seemed to lean toward the center of the car as he was driving, it looked uncomfortable but it was his trademark. Bob my condolances and sympathy , your dad was a great guy. Doug Bumgarner

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Holbrook. Ruthann remember’s his kindness too, and of his being a good neighbor in Birdsview. I remember his being a friendly man and great Dad, I always enjoyed talking to him when I would stop by to visit Robert. When I looked at this picture of him, It was obvious he was Robert’s Dad, and I’m proud to say I was lucky to have known him.

  • Sherrie Holbrook

I can hardly believe Dads gone. Thank you all so much for the kind words and reflections. Photo in SVHerald says it all, doesn’t it?

I only knew Keith for a short while while working with him logging for Scott Paper. He was our rigging slinger. I was fairly new to the woods and Keith stands out in my memory as a very good leader, teacher and a good man. It was a pleasure to work with Keith and have never forgotten him. I know he will be missed.

Keith was a “regular” at Herk Hancock Auction Co. for many years. Especially the farm sales. He was one of our favorite people. Very knowledgeable and friendly. A quiet man who seemed at peace with his world. He would come early to the previews where he and all the other “regulars” would stand around and talk about this and that old thing and how things used to be. If Herk didn’t know what a tool or implement was, Keith usually had the answer ( or would figure it out and call us later) He would get parts and pieces back together that had become separated over time. I am sorry to read of his passing, but have spent an enjoyable morning thinking about him and reflecting on the memorie of the auction days. I love this photo of Keith and his freshly caught fish.
I like to think he will run into Herk at the big fishing hole in the sky. Bless your hearts.
