The sun set for Lorna Jean Smith on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Washington. She was 63 years of age.
The sun rose for Lorna on November 24, 1945 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. She was the daughter of Lawrence Joseph ‘Knuckle’ and Ruth Lane Boome.
Lorna was a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley and she worked for the Skagit System Co-op where she surveyed and tagged salmon. She also fished in the upper Skagit River for many many years.
She enjoyed bead work and was the Queen of garage sales. Lorna was a member of the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe.
She is survived by her three daughters, Gladys Rose Williams of Marysville, Ruth Anna Williams Phluger of Burlington and Rachel Dawn Williams Arnone of Mount Vernon and by her son, Kevin Schroyer of Sedro-Woolley. four grandsons, eight granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Lisa Boome of Sedro-Woolley and a brother, Jason Boome of Sedro-Woolley. 2 aunts, Francis James of Lummi Island and Gladys Belles of Sedro-Woolley along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lawrence, Leonard and Dennis Boome and a sister, Sharon Boome Williams.
Prayer Services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 7:00PM with a Funeral Service to follow on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 10:00AM at the Upper Skagit Tribal Gymnasium in Sedro-Woolley with Judy Washington officiating. Interment will follow at the Sauk Indian Cemetery near Rockport.
