Mabel Irene Quisenberry, age 89, a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at 6:00PM on Tuesday evening , February 7, 2012 surrounded by her family, at her at her home in Sedro-Woolley, WA. She was born in Hoogdal, WA December 9, 1922 in her family home that was for a period of time used as the first Hoogdal School. Born to Hans and Emily (Anderson) Hanson who purchased the 62 acres of land in 1910 for $1,235.00.
Mabel graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1942. While in high school she started working at J.C.Penney’s to help support her mother after her father passed, going on to work as a bookkeeper for Berglund Motors, Vern Sim’s and Holland Drug before retiring.
Mabel married Howard T. Browne in 1942 and had three children together. He preceded her in death in 1983. She also was preceded in death by her six older sib- lings. In 1986, she was married to Roy Quisenberry gaining a step-son..
Mabel was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Samish Grange. In her younger years she enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother for her children. She enjoyed traveling world wide, sewing and dancing at Hillcrest Park, Grange halls, and the Senior Center. Mabel was known for her quick-wit, sense of humor, singing off-key, and her concern for others.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Quisenberry of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her son, Ron Browne (Dixie) of Sedro-Woolley; two daughters, Emily Roberts (Frank Scott) of Marblemount and Kris Marsolais (Dennis) of Bellingham; a step-son, Jay Quisenberry (Maxine) of Yreka, CA. Five grandchildren, Todd Loney, Travis Isaacson (Jennifer), Angelia Wilder (Javaai), Tiffany Isaacson, and Ryan Quisenberry, and eight great-grandchildren, Jered, Brittany,Gracie, Isabel, Aravis, Teis, Varden, and Omri.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 1006 Wicker Rd Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Walt Rice officiating with interment to follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the church. Memorials are suggested to North Puget Oncology, Hospice of the Northwest, or the Senior Center. Special thanks to Dr. Fish, Dr. Mathey, the teams at North Puget Oncology and United General Hospital, Hospice NW, caregivers; Amy, Nicole, Jennifer, and Tiffany, and all others who loved Mabel in her life. She has gone on to be with her loved ones and to dance and sing off-key. Arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
