Manuel “Manny” Verzola, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Sedro-Woolley.
He was born on September 16, 1937 in Seattle, the son of Samuel & Mary Verzola, Sr. He was raised and attended school in Seattle, graduating from Garfield High School where he was active in several sports. He then attended the University of Washington for a while.
Manny worked for a few years as a food deliveryman and then for many years as a security man for the Seattle Indian Center.
He was a sports enthusiast, playing on several tribal basketball & baseball teams where he was an allstar player. He also enjoyed casino bingo and lifting weights.
Manny moved to Mount Vernon in 1999 after his retirement.
He is survived by his life partner and mate of 41 years, Barbara Williams. His children, Manuel, Vanessa, Randy and Daveda Verzola all of Seattle and Marra Morris of Mount Vernon; 2 brothers, Martin and Fred Verzola and 2 sisters, Dianne Mamon and Delores Dunning and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 children, Manny BigBeaver, Julie Verzola and Anthony Verzola.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 12 noon at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Nick Denunzio and Debbie Williams, Speakers.
Hey dad…. I love you & it’s gonna be 9 yrs …. uhm I miss u && it’s hard not having I around , especially when I need u too inspect the guys I was with lol it would’ve saved me some time … but uhm I know ur looking down on ya & I know ur always here with me … I love u and I hope ur having an amazing time in heaven !!
