Marion Lucille Sjoboen

Tuesday, October 25th, 2016

Marion Lucille Sjoboen passed away on October 21, 2016 at the Lighthouse Memory Care Center in Anacortes, WA.

She was born in Enderlin, North Dakota on April 28, 1936. Her family moved to Auburn, WA early on and when Marion was in 6th grade, moved to the Skagit Valley. She met Bob in the 7th grade and they married in 1957. Marion was a kindergarten and first grade teacher for over 25 years in the Concrete School District. She was also very involved in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church as the organist and Sunday school superintendent for many years.

Marion and Bob moved to Anacortes in 2008 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. With a welcoming smile and a gracious invite, there was always room for one more. She will be missed.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 ½ years, Robert Sjoboen and children and grandchildren: Anita and Dana McCoy; Nick, Leah & Jeff Wagner & Riverlyn (great granddaughter!); Paula Fors; Carin & Kirsten; Lauren & Angela Sjoboen; Siri & Anders; Marial & Shawn Dickson; Christopher, Kelsey & Kari

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete, WA at 11:00am followed by a church service at 11:45am at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church in Concrete with a luncheon after.

A special thank you to the caretakers at the Lighthouse and Hospice especially during the last few weeks.

If memorials are desired, they can be made to Shepherd of the Hills Church in Concrete.

    Dear Sjoboen family,
I was very sorry to read about your loss of Marion. I know she was a very loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. My parents, Milt and Connie Bjorgan enjoyed knowing your family and having Lauren live with them while he finished high school at BEHS. I remember you sent beautiful flowers to them on holidays for many years after that. They always enjoyed the Sjoboen family Christmas letter and pictures. May love and prayers from family and friends comfort you in your sorrow. It’s hard to be without the ones we love.

I was part of the Sjoboen family during my high school years having lived with Hank and Virginia. Marion was always kind to me and treated me like family.
Praying for God’s comfort and peace.

Sweet memories of a wonderful lady. Marion was my mentor as a beginning teacher, as well as many years as my first grade teaching colleague. Marion was talented in so many areas: teaching (public school as well as Sunday school), music, and of course her gift of friendship to all of us. She demonstrated through her actions and words that she truly lived her Christian belief. Sending our prayers and love to her family.

    Dear Mr. Sjoboen and family,
I am so sorry to learn of the loss of Mrs. Sjoboen. She and you Sir, will always hold a special place in my heart as two of the kindest loving individuals ready to help and or comfort your students.
It has been many years since we have spoken (our class just celebrated our 50th Reunion!), but you have always had a place in my heart. I thank you for being one of the people in my life who made sure I was walking the correct path.
My prayers and thoughts go out to each of you.
