Nina Ethel Jerns, age 90, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Highland Convalescent Center in Bellingham, Washington.

She was born August 14, 1919 in Bellingham, Washington to Henry and Jessie (Jones) Dow. Nina grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School.  She was married to Gunnar Jerns on June 8, 1940 in Bellingham and they celebrated 66 years together until his passing in 2007.

Nina was a resident of the Cain Lake area for over 60 years.  She was a member of the United Church of God of Sedro-Woolley and the Prairie Grange.  Nina enjoyed gardening, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and little kids.

Nina is survived by her five children; Gunnar Jerns and his wife Wanita of Coos Bay, OR, Diane Koenig and her husband Bert of Sedro-Woolley, Douglas Jerns and his wife Luella of Sedro-Woolley, Ray Jerns and his wife Jeanie of Acme, and Sandra Latham of Puyallup.  A brother-in-law, Ray Miller  and a sister-in-law, Clare Yonally both of Bellingham.  Fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gunnar, a son-in-law, Steve Latham, three brothers, Jim Hughes, Raymond Dow, Marion Dow and one sister, Kathleen Hughes Williams.

Graveside Services will be Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Saxon Cemetery in Acme with Pastor Don Hooser of the United Church of God of Sedro-Woolley officiating.  Visitation is available at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley from 9Am to 5PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Grange or South District #18 Fire Dept Whatcom County.
