Oscar Armando “Glenn” Melick, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.

He was born on March 7, 1909 in Sedro-Woolley to David and Cordelia (Sanders) Melick.  Glenn grew up in Sedro-Woolley attending the McRae elementary school and later graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1927.

He worked in logging camps and later joined the Iron workers Union in 1937 and worked in construction in California, Idaho and later on the upper Baker and Gorge dams.

He was married to Virginia Schramsky in Sequim, WA in 1934,  she preceded him in death in 1990.  Glenn enjoyed camping, trailering, bird hunting, and fishing.

Glenn is survived by several nieces, Colleen Melick and Pat Pringle both of Hoodsport, Alicia Foy and her daughter, Abigail Leaf of Madera, CA, Juanita Burns and her husband Jan and her daughter, Lisa Moody and her two sons, Derek and Dillon all of Sedro-Woolley, and her son, Todd Homedew of Grants Pass, OR,  and a sister-in-law, Elva Byrd of Sedro-Woolley, and a cousin, Davis Sanders and his wife Betty of Seattle.  His good friends, Ken Layne of California and Mark Rathvon of Sedro-Woolley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia, five brothers and three sisters.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 9:00AM at the Cranberry Tree Restaurant in Mount Vernon.  Arrangements and Services under the care of  Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

    To the best uncle a gal or anyone could ever have. I loved you so, you were such an important person to me all my life!! You loved & cared for me & my family as your own. Althought you never had kids no one could ever love you & care for you & Virginia as we do. You were really family to me all the years of my life I own you so much. Dad cared for you so much you two were like brothers nothing will ever change but time….. i miss you so much already, I thought you’d be with us through eternity. I hope to see you soon in a land where pain is no more……. we miss you so.!!!
