Raymond Johnson

Saturday, February 3rd, 2024

Raymond Johnson, 92, of Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away in the early morning hours of February 3, 2024 to be united with his Savior Jesus Christ, with his loving wife of 54 years, Melodye, and son, George, by his side.

He was born May 17, 1931, on Camano Island, WA to Pete and Myrtle Johnson.  Many fond memories were made, and stories were told about how he spent his childhood with his nine siblings.  He loved his family and tried hard to take care of them, especially his wife, Melodye.  He always worked as a kid and young man, starting out helping his dad in the logging industry, picking fruit in Eastern Washington, joining his brother, George, commercial fishing in Alaska and Washington.  He was then a member of the building laborers for four years before joining the Bricklayers for the rest of his work career.  He was on jobs all over, from Alaska to New York as a bricklayer.

The accomplishment he was most proud of was turning his life over to Jesus Christ and leading his family, friends, and multiple strangers to Jesus.  He spent a lot of time studying God’s Word, and as a member of Grace Church in Mount Vernon, WA he provided the Prophetic Word each week while working with his friend, Pastor Billy Farrar, for 13 years.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Melodye; children Raymond (Susan) Johnson, Robin, Brian Johnson, George (Janie) Johnson; niece, Karen; nephew, Danny, along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his grandkids, Darius, Colton, Angelica, Sarah (Anthony), Mariah, Melodye, Jacob (Taylor), Isaac (Vanessa and Everly), and Adam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Gary Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Randy Johnson and Raider Johnson; siblings, Pete, Ben, Iver, Howard, Mina, Anna, Marie, George and Alice.

A special thank you to Dr. Paul Creelman for his caring medical attention and guidance in Raymond’s life.  A private graveside service will be held on Camano Island.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00, Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.  Please share your memories of Ray and sign the online guest register.

My Uncle Ray left to be with Jesus. I know I will see him again. I miss him terribly. When my Dad George passed, Uncle Ray was right there. He always looked after me checking on me praying for me. We had tons of wonderful conversations and I loved it when I made him laugh. He was such a a jokester just like my Dad . He’s all I had left but he left me with so many memories, good ones! He loved his wife Melodye and I love her too. Uncle Ray’s Angel. I love you my Uncle Ray.
