Richard Robert Oas, Jr., 45, passed away unexpectedly in a train accident on July 11, 2023 in Mount Vernon, WA. He was born on May 9, 1978 in Auburn, WA, the son of Richard R. Oas, Sr. and Debbie L. (Wood) Ryan.

Rick grew up in Federal Way, WA, most of his work history is in the food industry. Rick being the oldest of his siblings. He had a very hard life from being diagnosed at 17 years old with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma only given a short time frame to live, Rick overcame that battle. In his early adulthood he started showing signs of schizophrenia which ultimately took his life.

Rick enjoyed music, hip hop, rap and R&B. Eminem being his favorite artist. Although Rick had a challenging life growing up his greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a father. He enjoyed spending every minute with his son watching Ninja Turtles.

Rick is survived by his son, Richard (Ricky) Robert Oas, III, (his mother, Sandra Chavez); father, Richard Oas, Sr.; mother, Debbie Ryan; sister, Jessica Ryan; brother, Nick Ryan (Ashley); niece, Kaleah Ryan; nephews, Hudson Ryan, Carter  Ryan and Boaz Ryan.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley. Followed by a celebration of life at his son’s home. Share your memories of Rick and sign the online guest register
