THELMA IRENE KENDRICK, 65, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Saturday May 7, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on January 21, 1940 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the youngest of seven children of Raymond & Lena Allison. She was raised in Hyattvile, KS and attended and graduated from Hepler High School where she was a Prom Queen and cheerleader.
Thelma later made her home in California for several years where she was a seamstress, and a very accomplished one at that, for Key Work Clothes and for Helly Hanson and then for Pendleton in Oregon.
She eventually made her way to Skagit County and for the past 12 years she was a Ward Clerk at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley. She started her countdown to retirement at about 800 days and at last count had 35 days left and with help from her fellow workers with donated sick time and vacation days, she will make it.
In 1995 Thelma met the person she would spend the rest of her life with, and that was Charlie Bauer. Together they made their home in Day Creek until November of 2003 when they moved to Sedro-Woolley.
Thelma had the ability to tell you off as good as any logger, and in about the same language, but when she was done you would still love her for her honesty and sincerity. She will be truly missed by all that knew her.
She loved to go for drives in the country looking at old barns and fixer up houses. She also enjoyed camping with friends and partying with friends.
She had been a member of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Oriental Shrine and is a longtime member of the Sedro-Woolley Eagles.
Thelma is survived by her companion and soul mate, Charlie Bauer. Her daughter, Shannon Kendrick of Alaska. 5 grandchildren, Mackinnon, Morgan, Ashley Allison, Oscar and Tyson and 1 great-granddaughter, Lexie Grace. 2 sisters, Mary & Margaret and 2 brothers, Raymond & Clarence and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and a daughter, Stacey Jean, who died in a car accident in 1988.
Thelma’s family suggests memorials be made to the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley, 1462 SR 20, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 or North Puget Oncology c/o United General Hospital, 2000 SR 20, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday May 12, 2005 at 3:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Ed Robinson officiating. A fellowship gathering will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles. Cremation and arrangements under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
