Tony Lee Smith, age 78, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, passed away October 6, 2023.  He was born April 3, 1945 in Sedro-Woolley to Fred and Dorothy (Hodges) Smith.

Tony loved working on the family farm, flying airplanes, keeping his home and vehicles immaculate. He was often called the “Rock Polisher” by his coworkers. He was a prideful man, loving his daughter, son and granddaughters, often teaching them about farm life.

Tony ran a small cattle operation and log truck company with his beloved brother, Fred and together they had the most pristine log truck in the county. He retired from the Skagit PUD as a superintendent after over 25 years.

Tony was married to Leona Smith for over 30 years and together they shared a home in Sedro-Woolley and Yuma Arizona.

Tony also served in the Army National Guard. He loved road trips with his granddaughters, Nicole and Danielle, taking rides with them in the desert hills of Arizona in their Baja bug with their friends.

Tony is survived by his wife, Leona M. Smith; daughter, Tana Smith Skaugrud (Eric); of Sedro-Woolley; stepson, Rick Hyatt (Teri) of Salidea CA; stepdaughter, Lisa Hyatt of Mount Vernon, WA; granddaughters, Nicole and Danielle of CA; niece, Tammy Brendicke; great nieces and nephew, Jennifer and Christina Brendickie, Jimmy Ovenell; grand dogs, Stella and Ryder.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Smith; brother, Fred, and wife, Maledia; niece, Charlene.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00, on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Hamilton Cemetery, with Pastor Harold Thornbrough officiating. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Share your memories of Tony and sign the online guest register.

    Sorry to hear of Tony passing. He was in my grade and met him in Jr. high. ..I will be praying for you Leona. Maleida was my cousin Bert (Selfs) cousin. Janice (Price).
