Vera Oneva Dixon, 95, a resident of Bow, Washington, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on May 7, 1917 in Minatare, Nebraska, one of 13 children of Benjamin & Roxie (Harshman) Ore. She was raised on her parents homestead in Nebraska where she enjoyed riding horses and helping out on the farm.
Vera was united in marriage to Faye James Dixon on February 15, 1935 and they made their home in Eastern Washington until moving to the Skagit Valley in 1950.
For many years Vera and Faye and their family owned and operated the Wildwood Resort on Lake Whatcom. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and quilting.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Agnes & Glenn Anderson of Sedro-Woolley; 4 grandchildren, Anita Cunningham (Robert) of Blaine, WA, James Anderson of Sedro-Woolley, Amy Wells (Michael) of Great Falls, MT and Jay Anderson (Laleen) of Bellingham; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; special niece, Karla Jo Maki; numerous other nieces and nephews; friend and care givers, Kramer, Mike & Debbie Duffy; and her beloved cat, YoYo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Faye; infant daughter, Jeraldine Dixon; 9 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at the Green Hills Cemetery in Burlington on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jim Cannon officiating.
Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
