Vickie Lynn LaPine, 44, a resident of Concrete, died on Monday, July 20, 2009.
She was born on June 26, 1965 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the daughter of Glen & Phyllis Walker Heggie. While an infant the family moved to Oso, Washington where she was raised and she attended school in Arlington.
On September 14, 1984 she was united in marriage to Donald LaPine. Together with Vickie’s infant daughter, Stefanie, they first made their home in Mount Vernon until moving back to Oso. While there Vickie worked as a finish detailer at Bayliner Boats in Arlington for several years. In 2002 they moved to the Skagit Valley settling in Birdsview until moving to Concrete in 2004.
Vickie enjoyed fishing and working in her yard and providing and caring for all of nature’s creatures that would come to her yard. She loved all the animals.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, at the family home in Concrete. Her mother, Phyllis Groendyk of Arlington. Six sisters, Carla Vessie Larry of Marysville, Glenda Ransburger Mike of Oso, Roxanne Hubbard Bob, of Stanwood, Theresa Moody-Ledgerwood of Arlington, Jackie Fluett of Snohomish County and Ronda Torfin of Arlington. Her brother, Mike Torfin of Mount Vernon, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved pets, Broady, Oscar, Bandit and Miss Kitty. She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Heggie and died on the same day as her beloved daughter, Stephanie Heggie, who was trying to get home to be with her mother.
A potluck BBQ gathering to Celebrate Vickie & Stefanie’s lives will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at 46781 Baker Loop Drive in Concrete.. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to a funeral trust for Vickie & Stefanie established at People’s Bank. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

    Hello,i haven’t had this computer very long so thought i would try to find Glen’s children.i am shocked at this tradgity..GOD love each and everyone of you.i hardly know what to sayi haven’t heard one word spoke of it here.i’m sorry seems such little to say.even tho it has been 14 months ago i will let family here know of this. i hope to hear from someone soon.
