Vivian C. Russell, 90, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019.

Vivian was born on April 9, 1928 in Port Angeles, WA, the daughter of James & Phoebe (Gaboury) Davidson.  She was raised and attended school in Port Angeles, graduating from Port Angeles High School with the class of 1946. She then graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a Business Degree in 1950.

On December 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to Terry Russell and they made their home in several locations with Terry’s occupation with the Park Service. They settled in Sedro-Woolley in 1960.

Vivian was the epitome of a mom, raising her children, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, canning foods, sewing clothes and keeping the books straight for Terry’s sporting goods business.  She was a longtime member of the Central United Methodist Church and was part of the founding group that organized the Open Door Community Kitchen at the church in 1989.

Vivian is survived by her children, Renee Swanson and husband Mike of Lyman, Cheri Russell of Edmonds, David Russell and wife Janelle of West Seattle, Stacey Olsen of Sedro-Woolley and Wade Russell and wife Kara of Pullman; Ten grandchildren, Erich, Matt (Lindsay), Kyle (Jenny), and Katie Swanson, Stephen & Sean Olsen, and Ava, Phoebe, Lauren and William Russell; four great-grandchildren, Gia, Zola, Max and Bennett Swanson; brother, Darold Davidson and wife Bonnie and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded by her parents, husband Terry, and two brothers, Ray & Melvin Davidson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Central United Methodist Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Colin Cushman officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Vivian’s name to the Open Door Community Kitchen at Central United Methodist Church in Sedro-Woolley.  Interment will be at the Hamilton Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel.

I am so sorry for your loss, she was such a sweet wonderful woman! All of my memories of her are just as described in the obituary – the perfect Mother! I am so sorry to have missed the service but we were in Texas. Hugs to you all….Shelly

To all of the wonderful Russell family,
Losing your Mom is no fun. We always need our Moms. Your Mom was one of the best. I have such great memories growing up around you all and your Mom. Church, Scouts, swimming in bottomless lake (until Steph convinced me there was a water snake living under the dock!), visiting your house. Your Mom and Dad were and are cherished by our family. They were two of the best!
    Hugs from the Huisman’s.

    Sweet Vivian,
    Your life was a blessing.
    Your memory a treasure.
    You’re loved beyond words
    and missed beyond measure.
    With hugs, love and tears,
    Jeanie Spalding

Growing up Vivian was a big part of the early years of my life. I can still hear her voice and especially remember her laughter. She was a kind and loving person who always made me feel loved and cared for. As I got older our families didn’t spend as much time together but I will always remember her as someone who influenced my life in a very positive way. Rest In Peace Vivian.
